MAN Importers Ireland is celebrating two significant landmarks this year. The firm has been in business for 35 years and just sold its 1,000th TGE van in the Irish market since the model was first introduced in 2017.
The MAN TGE is a mid-sized panel van (with chassis-cab, bus, and minibus variants) that uses a choice of three 2.0-litre turbodiesel engines and has a payload capacity of up to 2.9 tonnes, depending on the model.
The TGE that tipped the model over to four-figure sales in Ireland was bought by D&D Window & Door Services Limited. Darren Hynes, Director of D&D Windows & Doors, who specialises in the refurbishment of timber windows and doors in Dublin and the surrounding area, collected the vehicle at MAN Importers Ireland’s headquarters. Darren was presented with a gift in recognition of purchasing this milestone vehicle.
Bought using TRATON finance
The 1,000th Irish TGE was supplied on finance by TRATON Financial Services, with MAN Account Manager Simon Lynskey commenting: “Congratulations “to all the team here at MAN Importers on reaching this incredible milestone, not to mention Darren and David on their brand-new vehicle. We’re very proud. We’re celebrating this achievement by supporting one of the first sales through MAN Finance Ireland, now under the umbrella of TRATON Financial Services.”
The MAN TGE was first introduced in 2017 but was given a significant update in 2024, with a completely redesigned dashboard with a digital instrument cluster and a freestanding touchscreen. Other enhancements included an ergonomic multifunction steering wheel, electronic parking brake and Keyless Go functionality, all aimed at elevating driver comfort. Safety has also been substantially improved with the addition of eleven new assistance systems (27 in total), encompassing Active Lane Guard System, Parking Assist, Fatigue Detection, Traffic Sign Information, Intelligent Speed Assist and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.
Plenty of orders for 2025
Tom Farrington, Head of LCV products at MAN Importers Ireland, concluded: “The reputation of, and enthusiasm for, the TGE product continues to grow and grow. We already have orders placed in the hundreds for 2025. This is a product which is now firmly established as part of the light commercial vehicle landscape in Ireland.”
