HVO is now available at 30 Circle K locations

Fuel retailer Circle K is expanding the number of locations where it supplies Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO) in Ireland. The fuel, which is a renewable biofuel alternative to diesel, is sold by Circle K under the milesBio HVO100 name and is now available at eight new locations, bringing its total network in Ireland to 30 locations.

The new locations include Parkway West in Dublin, City Avenue, City North on the M1, Cashel at Junction 8 on the M8, Fermoy at Junction 14 on the M8, Kill North and Kill South and N4 East in Mullingar. Circle K has further plans to add more locations over the next twelve months.

Speaking at the announcement of the expansion, Jonathan Diver, Senior Fuel Director at Circle K, said: “We’re proud to make milesBIO HVO100 available to even more diesel drivers at Circle K. The addition of these eight new sites marks a major milestone in our journey towards more sustainable mobility in Ireland. With milesBOP HVO100 now available at 30 locations nationwide, Circle K operates the largest HVO refuelling network in the country. Today’s announcement marks a significant step in making low-emission fuel solutions more accessible to the public and supporting motorists who want to reduce their environmental impact.

“Since first introducing milesBIO HVO100 to the Irish market in 2022 for our own fleet and business customers, we’ve witnessed first-hand the positive effect this renewable diesel alternative can have on reducing emissions. By extending its availability, we’re not only broadening choice at the pump but also reaffirming our commitment to a greener future. We’re excited to build on this momentum and look forward to expanding the rollout of milesBIO HV100 to even more locations across Ireland in the months ahead.”

What is HVO?

Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil, or HVO as it’s more commonly called, is an alternative to regular diesel fuel. It is a biofuel that is made from waste materials and food industry by-products. When used in diesel-engined vehicles, it can reduce carbon emissions by up to 90 per cent and can be used without any changes or modifications to the engine. It is recommended that you check with your vehicle manufacturer if you are uncertain. The HVO fuel is certified by the ISCC and is completely fossil-free.

The milesBIO HVO100 is clearly labelled at Circle K forecourts and is dispensed from grey nozzles to make it easier for drivers to differentiate it from petrol and regular diesel options. Since 2022, Circle K has been running its delivery vehicles on HVO. Earlier this year, Circle K entered into an agreement to supply HVO to Irish Ferries for use in its Dublin Swift vessel on the Dublin to Holyhead crossing.
